Q&A 3:31:38 - 3:52:35

This panel discussion, entitled ‘What’s needed to get the economy net zero ready in 2020’ explored different ways in which government can support business and the financial sector in the lead-up to COP26. It aimed to demonstrate the willingness of business and the financial sector to engage with climate change and align themselves with net zero.

The panel discussed:

  • What businesses and the financial sector see as the priorities, challenges and opportunities of COP26 both globally and domestically?

  • How can Government leadership maximise those opportunities for business over the next year?

  • Practically, how can businesses align themselves with net zero in the lead-up to COP, and where is government support most beneficial in realising this?

  • How should government be investing public money to stimulate private investment in technologies or initiatives that drive decarbonisation?

  • How can they be supporting businesses to invest sustainably and to appropriately factor climate risk into their portfolios?

Panellists:

  • Chair: James Murray, Editor in Chief, Business Green

  • Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Environment Agency

  • Paul Wrighton, Director North West Europe & Nordics, Schneider Electric

  • James Cameron, Senior Adviser, Pollination
